While the king insists on accompanying her to find the inventor, his jealousy shines through as he follows Ji-young despite objections. Their arrival at the eccentric inventor’s home is nothing short of chaotic, with exploding rice puffs instead of cannon fire.

Ji-young cleverly persuades the reluctant inventor by sweetening his failed experiment with sugar, earning his eventual help. Bon Appétit Your Majesty Ep. 8 starts with the cooking battle, with a test of innovation: create a brand-new meat dish. Ji-young’s confidence wavers when the essential ingredient, gochugaru, mysteriously disappears. At the last moment, she modifies her dish, yet manages to produce something truly remarkable. The tension peaks when Ji-young exposes Ming’s cook for stealing their ingredient, implicating Prince Jasen in the scheme. The Majesty and Ming Envoy declare the first round a tie, leaving both sides unsettled.

The second round challenges the teams to honor the other nation’s cuisine. Ji-young and her team craft a Ming-style dish for them, while Cook Maeng secretly wrestles with Consort Kang’s threats. Rather than sabotage the dish, he injures himself so Ji-young’s friend can step in, proving her training has paid off. The finished plate of Ji-Young moves the Ming envoy to tears, a touching sign of food’s power to transcend borders. Yet, before results are announced, the episode ends, heightening the suspense.

My Thoughts

Bon Appétit Your Majesty Ep. 7-8

I loved how Bon Appétit Your Majesty Ep. 7-8 balanced comedy and intensity. Ji-young’s cleverness shines, but it’s her teamwork and reliance on Cook Maeng and her friend that make the story heartwarming. The king’s protectiveness feels romantic yet amusingly childish, and it adds layers to his dynamic with Ji-young. I suspect Consort Kang’s schemes will escalate in the next round, putting Ji-young in even more danger. My theory? The pressure cooker won’t just be a culinary tool; it’ll symbolize innovation versus tradition in the final showdown.
