Do Bong Soon may look small and delicate, but her appearance is misleading. For generations, the women in Bong Soon’s family have been blessed with extraordinary strength. She possesses the power to lift objects that no ordinary person could move and to defeat people much bigger than herself with ease.
However, this incredible gift comes with an important responsibility. Her strength is meant to be used for good, and abusing it could result in her losing her powers. Bong Soon tries to live a relatively normal life despite the extraordinary ability she carries.
However, everything changes when An Min Hyuk, the young and eccentric CEO of the gaming company Ainsoft, witnesses her incredible strength. Min Hyuk is immediately fascinated by Bong Soon.
After receiving threats from an unknown enemy, he decides that Bong Soon would make the perfect bodyguard. What begins as a professional arrangement soon brings two completely different personalities into each other’s lives.
Their relationship slowly develops through teasing, friendship, trust, and eventually something much more meaningful. However, Bong Soon’s heart is initially focused on someone else: her childhood friend and police officer, In Guk Du.
As Bong Soon finds herself caught between old feelings and new emotions, another darker storyline begins unfolding in her hometown. A series of kidnappings creates fear and danger, forcing Bong Soon to question how she should use her incredible powers.
Should she continue hiding her strength from the world? Or should she use it to protect the people around her?
The drama balances these questions with romance, comedy, action, and suspense. While the kidnapping storyline brings genuine tension, the heart of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon remains Bong Soon’s journey and her growing relationship with Min Hyuk.

Park Bo Young as Do Bong Soon
Park Bo Young’s acting was my favourite part of this show, as she brought everything to life as Do Bong Soon.
Do Bong Soon could easily be a flat character because of the juxtaposition of her appearance, delicateness, and strength. Park Bo Young unravels this character and makes her the strong girl but adds more than that.
She is sweet and kind, but Bong Soon is still insecure and anxious when it all comes down to her emotions. She has more than just powers. She has dreams. She has an entire personality that is relatable and emotional.
It is this emotional side of Do Bong Soon that makes her journey so compelling and important. It shows her growth and discovery of who she is and that finally she does not need to change herself to please everyone.
Park Bo Young brings the right elements for perfect comic timing to this role. The contradiction between Bong Soon’s cute appearance and the Kafkaesque chaos she can bring is one of the dramas’ comedic highlights.
Park Hyung Sik as An Min Hyuk
If Bong Soon is the heart of the drama, then Min Hyuk is undoubtedly one of the biggest reasons the romance works so beautifully.
Park Hyung Sik plays An Min Hyuk with the perfect combination of charm, humour, vulnerability, and romance. Min Hyuk could have easily been written as another typical cold and arrogant CEO, but thankfully, he is anything but predictable.
He is playful. He is dramatic. He can be childish.
And when it comes to Bong Soon, he is completely and hopelessly captivated.
That is one of the things I loved most about his character. Min Hyuk does not feel threatened by Bong Soon’s strength. Instead, he admires it. He sees her powers as part of what makes her special.
Their relationship becomes even more beautiful because Min Hyuk genuinely appreciates Bong Soon for who she is.
Park Hyung Sik’s performance also brings a lot of emotional depth to the character. Behind Min Hyuk’s playful personality is someone dealing with danger, family pressure, and loneliness. His character grows significantly throughout the drama, especially through his relationship with Bong Soon.
The chemistry between Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young is one of the biggest reasons Strong Woman Do Bong Soon became such a memorable romantic comedy. They are cute together, hilarious together, emotionally convincing together, and incredibly romantic together.
Kim Ji Soo as In Guk Du
In Guk Du plays an important role in Bong Soon’s emotional journey because he represents the feelings she has carried for a long time.
As her childhood friend and first love, he initially seems like the obvious choice for Bong Soon. However, the drama slowly explores the difference between holding onto an old crush and discovering a relationship where love is returned openly and genuinely.
Kim Ji Soo does a good job portraying Guk Du as a serious and dedicated police officer. His personality is very different from Min Hyuk’s, which makes the romantic contrast interesting.
While the love triangle adds another layer to the story, the drama never lets it completely overshadow the central relationship.
And honestly, once Bong Soon and Min Hyuk’s chemistry truly takes over the screen, it becomes very difficult not to root for them.
Jeon Seok Ho as Secretary Kong
Secretary Kong adds another entertaining layer to the drama.
His interactions with Min Hyuk often contribute to the comedy, and he becomes part of the strange but lovable world surrounding the CEO and his superpowered bodyguard.
The supporting cast, in general, helps make Strong Woman Do Bong Soon feel lively. The drama creates a world filled with eccentric personalities, family dynamics, workplace comedy, and unexpected situations.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon K-Drama Review: What Made the Drama Stand Out
One of the biggest themes in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is finding power and strength in yourself.
Bong Soon’s power is, of course, physical, but it goes deeper than that. There is an expectation on women to be a certain way – to act small, to be delicate and dependent and less fierce.
Bong Soon is the total opposite of this.
No doubt, she is extremely strong and powerful compared to almost all of the men around her, yet she is still feminine and romantic.
The show doesn’t imply that, in any way, she needs to lose her femininity since she is strong. The exact opposite is shown. It is because of this that her character is so unique.
The show portrays a really nice example of the balance between love and acceptance with Min Hyuk and Bong Soon’s relationship. Min Hyuk does not fall in love with an imaginary version of Bong Soon. He falls for the real person, the woman with extraordinary strength, dreams, fears, and imperfections.
Visually, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon perfectly matches its tone. The drama often uses bright, colourful settings that complement its playful romantic-comedy atmosphere.
The softer visual style works especially well during Bong Soon and Min Hyuk’s scenes. Their romantic moments feel warm and dreamy, while the darker crime storyline creates a noticeable contrast when the drama moves into thriller territory.
The kidnapping storyline also adds excitement to the overall experience. Without it, the drama would have focused purely on romance and comedy. The darker storyline raises the stakes and gives Bong Soon an opportunity to truly consider what her powers mean.
The OST also fits the drama’s emotional and romantic atmosphere beautifully. The music helps make the sweetest scenes feel even more memorable and supports the drama’s mixture of comedy, romance, and emotion.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon Ending
Without spoiling anything, I’ll just say that the ending gave me a satisfying and happy feeling. This is exactly what I was hoping for from this drama.
Having invested the time to watch Bong Soon and Min Hyuk’s relationship develop, the conclusion is rewarding. Collectively, the final episodes balance the romance, the danger, and the character emotions while advancing the storyline and Bong Soon towards a more satisfying conclusion.
The drama doesn’t leave you feeling emotionally drained. Finally, it leaves behind a warm, happy feeling that is experienced when characters you are emotionally invested in reach their happy ending. For a romantic comedy, that is exactly what an ending should do.
Overall Thoughts
There are a number of reasons that Strong Woman Do Bong Soon stands out, especially having a unique superhero as its protagonist. What makes it really special is the soul of the story.
It is funny without being void of emotions. It is romantic without sacrificing its humour. It has a dark thriller line but is not devoid of its romantic comedy line. And finally, you get an unforgettable K-drama couple.
I appreciated the unique way Bong Soon’s strength-powered set of abilities separated her from the typical rom-com protagonist. Through her portrayal of peasant strength, Bong Soon’s drama brought a new dimension.
K-drama romances are known for their addictive moments, and theirs includes everything from teasing to jealousy to heart-throbbing scenes. They even have the cute moments that got me reliving their iconic piano-on-table kiss. That scene encapsulates all the things that make their chemistry great. Romantic, intense, and fun.
For those who appreciate all the romance, comedy, action, and suspense that one drama has to offer, and of course, an unforgettable couple, look no further than Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.
It may not be 100 per cent perfect, but it definitely wins the heart of its audience.
