About World’s Worst Boyfriend

The story of World’s Worst Boyfriend centres around two main characters – Saidy and Fletcher – who are in a relationship that seems anything but ideal. Saidy feels frustrated and underappreciated by Fletcher, her boyfriend, who constantly finds ways to disappoint her. From last-minute cancellations to neglecting shared events and leaving his laundry at her apartment, Fletcher’s actions don’t paint him as a great boyfriend. In addition, during their time together, he prioritises his phone over Saidy.

One day, Saidy stumbled upon a podcast detailing a humorous and captivating contest – to find the “World’s Worst Boyfriend.” The idea seems to hit way too close to home for her, and without much thought, she enters Fletcher into the competition. She writes in all the ways her boyfriend has been less-than-stellar. But entering him into the contest sets off a series of events she couldn’t possibly have predicted.

From there, the real story begins. What happens when your boyfriend is publicly declared to be the worst? Will Fletcher find out? What will his reaction be? And most importantly, if he is the worst boyfriend on the planet, then what’s the catch? While these questions emerge one after another, the cuts between them highlight my favourite moments of the story, filled with the best laughs and the warmest feelings alongside the narrative in this romantic comedy.

MY REVIEW: A Delightful Romantic Comedy

Why don’t we start with this: the book was truly delightful. The author had the humour, romance, awkwardness, and emotional beats blended perfectly. I was captivated by the whirlwind that is Saidy and Fletcher’s relationship from the start. Their dynamic was frustrating, endearing, and real all at once.

The author Carina Taylor deserves special mention for crafting every character in the story to have depth. While the Main Leads remain the focus throughout, the side characters are also well-written and serve a purpose beyond just filling pages. Each character, no matter how minor, adds value to the plot and contributes to the unfolding of events. That’s something we always appreciate in a romantic comedy – when the author takes the time to make every character memorable.

A Stronger Second Half

What stood out the most was the second half of the book. Though the first half sets the stage, detailing the relationship’s oddities and Saidy’s increasing frustration, the latter half is far more captivating. It becomes more emotionally engaging, more humorous, and surprisingly – more tender. The chemistry between the main leads becomes more noticeable, and the little moments between them start to carry weight. From jealousy to apologies, fights to quiet understandings, every scene enriched their bond.

This book was my first read from Carina Taylor books, and honestly, I was impressed. The writing style is simple, conversational, and engaging – perfect for readers who enjoy easy, breezy, feel-good romances with a unique premise. After reading World’s Worst Boyfriend, I’m excited to explore more books by the author. If her other works are even remotely as captivating as this one, it’s safe to say I’m in for a treat.

Now let’s discuss the cover: I loved it! The art was really cute, colourful, and lively for a romantic comedy. It is charming, vibrant, and gives a fantastic first impression. Combine that with the catchy and somewhat shocking title – World’s Worst Boyfriend – and it’s a guaranteed way to spark curiosity.

Why 4.75 and Not 5 Stars?

Every book has its flaws, and this one is no exception. The main reason that made me give it 4.75 stars is that a few scenes were too stretched and unnecessary. There were certain interactions where it felt very one-dimensional. Despite the story as a whole being engaging, these moments did impact the pacing. Tightening these sections would have made the overall experience, especially the ending, so much better.

If you’re someone who loves romantic comedies with a quirky premise, endearing characters, and a dash of mischief, then World’s Worst Boyfriend should be on your radar. This book is perfect for:

  • Fans of light-hearted, feel-good romances.
  • Readers who enjoy stories with a playful and humorous twist.
  • Anyone who loves character-driven plots with emotional growth and misunderstandings.
  • Those looking for a fun weekend read that isn’t just fluff but has real relationship depth underneath.

Final Thoughts

World’s Worst Boyfriend is an entertaining, heart-touching book that is surprisingly sweet. It made me smile, laugh, and even cry a little bit. You can very easily finish it within a day, but it has a lasting impression, so you will be thinking about the characters for days. This book is perfect whether you’re a fan of romantic comedies or just looking for something light-hearted yet with deeper meaning. You can order it—so wrap yourself in a cosy blanket and be prepared to cheer on a couple that is far from perfect. Did you read it? I would love to know what you think.
